Hammer Tattoos

Occasionally I fantasize about getting a new tattoo.  One day it will happen.  But today I decided to share some hammer tattoos I found around the web. (Please keep in mind that these link to tattoo sites that probably have at least partial nudity and might have questionable content. I chose the images because of hammers, not because I endorse other images on their sites)

I’m not the only person with the idea to compile tattoos – Tool Tattoos

The term tattoo actual refers to the way they were hammered into your skin (like a military tattoo of drummers.)

The traditional way to get tattooed.

Super Secret Bowl Project

OK, it’s not really secret, but it is super.  I’ve developing a workshop to go along with my Super Bowl Challenge where I teach students to sink a bowl.  It’s still in the planning stages, but today I finished the sample.  Here are some shots:

First round of sinking. This always reminds me of those old foil ashtrays.
Two or three rounds of sinking and bouging.
After one round of planishing you can see my reflection in it.
Ta da! All finished with a cute little base and everything.

I’ll post more info about the workshop as it becomes available.

5 Hammer Quotes

Instead of linking to crazy hammer stories, I decided that today I would give some some quotes involving hammers.  (Pssst, this makes it easy for you to try and win my new book!)

“I have a hammer! I can put things together! I can knock things apart! I can alter my environment at will and make an incredible din all the while! Ah, it’s great to be male!” —Bill Watterson, author of Calvin & Hobbes

“Genius is always allowed some leeway, once the hammer has been pried from its hands and the blood has been cleaned up” — Terry Pratchett, author of the Diskworld series

“At no time is freedom of speech more precious than when a man hits his thumb with a hammer.” —  Marshall Lumsden (I don’t know who this is)

“Thaw with her gentle persuasion is more powerful than Thor with his hammer. The one melts, the other breaks into pieces.” —  Henry David Thoreau

“Art is not a mirror held up to reality, but a hammer with which to shape it.”—Bertolt Brecht
